On January 1, 1988, Indonesia's time zones were set as follows:
1. Western Indonesia Standard Time: GMT plus 7 hours (meridian 105 E), covering all provinces in Java, Sumatra and West and Central
Kalimantan.
2. Central Indonesia Standard Time: GMT plus 8 hours (meridian 120 E), covering all provinces in Bali, Borneo, Celebes, Sulawesi, East and
South Kalimantan, East and West Nusatenggara, and East Timor.
3. Eastern Indonesia Standard Time: GMT plus 9 hours (meridian 135 E), covering the provinces of the Moluccas and Irian Jaya.
