Genjem, still a small outpost, is the administrative center of the Nimboran subdivision and plays a
key role in the regional development plan for the Nimboran area, one of the first projects to be
undertaken with the support of the South Pacific Commission. With a view to the implementation of this
plan an airstrip suitable for Dakota planes has been constructed at Genjem.
