Wasior, administrative center of Wandammen subdivision, has, like Waren, only recently become the
sub-divisional capital and, consequently, is of little significance yet.
Miei, at a distance of about one mile, south of Wasior, has for many years been the center of the
Protestant Mission before the war. Its influence on the population is readily distinguishable.
There are European communities in Wasior as well as in Miei. These small localities have some great
advantages over many other places; they are favorably located on a peninsula with mountain peaks up to
8,000 feet and they are built on dry land facing an attractive bay. At night temperatures drop appreciably.
